Regulation
The New Zealand Chiropractic Board is the regulatory authority established by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003) . The principal purpose of this Act is to protect the health and safety of members of the public by providing for mechanisms to ensure that health practitioners are competent and fit to practise their professions.
The title of Chiropractor is protected by the Act. Only practitioners that are registered with the Chiropractic Board may use the title Chiropractor and only Chiropractors that hold a current Annual Practising Certificate may lawfully practice chiropractic in New Zealand.
Please note:
Chiropractors are primary health care providers and are entitled to use the title “Dr”. Use of the honorary title doctor on this website refers to a Registered Chiropractor not a Registered Medical Practitioner unless specified.
